U9's Battle Hard agaisnt Bramley ...

Description

AFC Dronfield  4  -  5  Bramley Sunnyside

Match 1 lost 3-5.

Having gone 2 down in the first few minutes AFC looked to be up against it against a side who had scored 13 last time the teams met. However, AFC turned in possibly their best performance of the season as they battled away for the full 40 minutes which saw William Rowbotham complete his hat-trick with virtually the last kick of the game.   The game had not started well with two soft goals being shipped and Tom Harrison limping out of the game with a twisted knee.  Vineet Bhachoo was drafted in as emergency centreback and he proceded to give a MOM display winning many 50/50s alongside James Tattersall.   Having gone 0-2 down AFC gave as good as they got and Will scored is first goal just before halftime after a shot by Luca Purse was parried by the keeper.  Into the second half and AFC had several breaks but opportunities to pass to teammates were not taken as chances went a begging and a coupe of fine strikes from Bramley saw them 4-1 up.  AFC continued to contest the midfield with strong performances from Wesley Atougou and Louis Hawksworth, and it was no suprise when Will scored his second.  Into the last minute and Bramley scored their fifth but immediatley from the kick-off Will broke to complete his hat-trick with an emphatic finish.

MOM jointly Vineet Bhachoo and William Rowbotham.

Match 2 won 1-0

A fantastic defensive display saw the second team record a clean sheet as a MOM performance from James Sayles, together with a return to form for Chris Hardy saw Adam Dilly only having to deal with a string of long shots from the Bramley forwards.   At the other end the Bramley keeper had another good game, bravely saving at Curtis Fairest's feet after a great through ball by Lewis Copley-Dunn.  Into the second half and AFC finally got the breakthrough as a freekick from Jack Beach was flicked into the net by Rowan Spinks.   Despite having several more chances AFC could not score the crucial second goal and Bramley hung-on to claim the match 5-4.
