Dronfield Town  2  -  1  AFC Dronfield

 

AFC U14s narrowly lost a hard fought local derby against close rivals Dronfield Town.  Playing up the slope in the 1st half AFC went behind to a well worked set piece before Stephen Kerry forced home an equaliser. Good chances were squandered and a series of excellent saves from the Town keeper kept AFC at bay and they could not reply to the opposition's 2nd half goal.

Sunday February 14th


AFC Dronfield   2  -  2   Thostles


AFC U14s fought out 2-2 draw against in the form Thostles. Despite missing a key player AFC took an early lead through top scorer Tom Ballard. With conditions in their favour Thostles fought back to establish a 2-1 half time advantage. AFC worked hard in the 2nd half and were rewarded with a Stephen Kerry equaliser, following good work by Tom Crown.

Sunday February 7th


AFC Dronfield  5  -  0  Chapeltown Athletic
 

AFC U14s returned to winning ways with a comprehensive defeat of Chapeltown Athletic.
Oliver Bates opened the scoring with a fine goal after receiving a defence splitting pass from Tom Crown. Oliver Bright soon added two more with powerful strikes. Stephen Kerry also notched a double, both following good work by Tom Ballard. Travis Cartwright and Tom Jones were strong in defence but the Man of the Match for his tireless running was Paul Hebblethwaite.

Rotherham Phoenix  2  -  0  AFC Dronfield


AFC Dronfield U14s played their 1st game after the winter break and lost for the 1st time this season against top of the table rivals Rotherham Phoenix. The match was decided by two contentious decisions by the referee and although AFC didn't deserve to win a draw would have been a fair result.

Sunday December 13th


AFC Dronfield  7 -  0  Maltby Juniors
 

AFC Dronfield U14s returned from a three week lay off with a comprehensive 7 - 0 league victory over Maltby Juniors. After a slow start Oliver Bright forced home a corner and this was quickly followed by a stunning turn and shot from Stephen Kerry.
A fine defence splitting pass from Sam Oates was converted by James Spooner and further  1st half goals came from a powerful Oliver Bright strike and from Man of the Match Dan Hardy. In the 2nd half the scoring was completed by Oliver Bates and another goal for James Spooner.

Chapeltown Athletic  0  -  12  AFC Dronfield



AFC U14s continued their winning ways with a comprehensive 12 - 0 league victory away at Chapeltown Athletic. Despite playing excellent passing football and creating numerous chances the score remained goalless for the 1st 20mins. An Oliver Bright header from a corner opened the floodgates and further goals followed. Tom Ballard scored five, Stephen Kerry got a hattrick, Tom Crown a double and a Dan Hardy tap in completed the scoring.  This was a tremendous team performance with all the boys playing well.

AFC Dronfield  9  -  3   Whiston Boys


Cup Game

 
Despite a couple of early setbacks AFC U14s progressed comfortably into the next round of the cup beating Whiston Boys 9 - 3. Two goals came from Tom Crown, three from Tom Ballard and one each from Sam Johnson, Stephen Kerry, Oliver Bright and Man of the Match Dan Hardy.

Sunday November 8th


AFC Dronfield  4  -  2  Owls Trust Allstars

 

AFC U14s consolidated their position at the top of the league with a fine 4-2 victory over Owls Trust Allstars. Playing uphill against the wind AFC gave away an early goal but a calm and composed finish by James Spooner levelled the score just before half time. In the 2nd half a towering headed goal by Oliver Bright was followed by strikes from Oliver Bates and Stephen Kerry to seal the points. Man of the Match for some brave goalkeeping in difficult conditions was Tom Ward.Sunday November 1st

  AFC Dronfield  2  -  1  Rotherham Phoenix
 
AFC U14s went to the top of the league by beating previous league leaders Rotherham Phoenix 2 - 1. Despite wet and windy conditions both teams attempted to play passing football and Rotherham deserved to lead 1-0 at half time. In the 2nd half AFC got on top and were rewarded with a Tom Ballard strike following good work by Tom Crown. The game was won by a speculative long range effort by defender Tom Jones, his 1st ever goal in six seasons at AFC. Man of the match went to Oliver Bright for a powerful 2nd half midfield display.

Clowne Comets  0  -  1  AFC Dronfield
 
Despite only having 10 players due to holidays and illness the U14s gave a tremendous battling performance and were rewarded with a superb victory at high flying Clowne Comets.
A Stephen Kerry penalty after he was fouled was the difference between the teams.
All players deserve credit but Tom Jones and Sam Johnson at the heart of the defence and Man of the Match Oliver Bates for winning numerous aerial challenges, did particularly well.

Sunday October 18th

  U14's Trophy

  AFC Dronfield  9  -  2  Charnock Ridgeway

 
AFC Dronfield U14s ran out convincing 9-2 winners in their Cup game against Charnock Ridgeway. Despite conceding an early goal AFC soon took control of the game with centre forward Tom Ballard helping himself to 5 goals. Other goals came from Oliver Bates, Paul Hebblethwaite and Tom Crown. Oliver Bright finished the scoring following good work from Stephen Kerry. Man of the Match was Sam Oates for controlling the midfield, whilst Macauley Wade, Travis Cartwright and Ben Jones gave sound performances in defence.

Nether Green   2  -  2  AFC Dronfield

 
AFC U14s dropped their first points of the season in closely contested contest against Nether Green. Poor defending from set pieces allowed Nether Green to take a two goal 1st half advantage. Although nothing seemed to going AFCs way, they battled hard and were rewarded with a Tom Ballard strike and a late Oliver Bright penalty.

Sunday October 4th

AFC Dronfield 4 - 0 Norfolk Park Rangers
 
AFC Dronfield U14s maintained their 100% winning start to the season with a convincing 4-0 victory over League leaders Norfolk Park Rangers. AFC created numerous chances and were rewarded with a fine Tom Ballard hat-trick and an Oliver Bright penalty following good work by Tom Crown. Two crucial saves in the 1st half by goalkeeper Tom Ward, deservedly earned him the Man of the Match.

Sunday September 27th

AFC Dronfield  2 - 1 Dronfield Town
 
With both teams possessing 100% winning records prior to this fixture, this was always going to be a keenly contested match. AFC opened the scoring with a goal from Tom Ballard but Town equalised through Jordan Holden midway through the 2nd half. AFC won the game with minutes to spare, with a fine strike by man of the match Oliver Bright.

Brampton Dynamos  2 - 4 AFC Dronfield  
 
AFC Dronfield U14s continued their winning start to the season with a 4-2 victory at Brampton Dynamos. A dominant start saw first half goals from Oliver Bates, Tom Ballard and a spectacular strike from man of the match James Spooner. AFC then took their foot of the gas and were punished with two goals. A fine header from a corner from captain Sam Oates sealed the points towards the end of the 2nd half.

Maltby Juniors  0 - 3  AFC Dronfield
 
Following a 100% winning record in their pre-season matches, AFC Dronfield U14s made a successful start to their league season. Although not playing as well as they can, they ran out comfortable 3 - 0 winners against Maltby Juniors. The goals were from new signings Tom Ballard, Dan Hardy and Paul Hebblethwaite, whilst new keeper Tom Ward gave a solid performance.
