 Sunday March 7th

AFC DRONFIELD  6  -  4  ECCLESALL RANGERS

The lads got off to a really slow start and quickly found themselves 3 – 0 down in the first game. However after half time in that match Edward Marsden came off the bench to score a superb hat trick. Those goals and Charlie Benn’s strike ensured we were 4 – 3 up at the end of the first match – an incredible performance from the lads.
In the second match 2 close range Jack Leversidge goals after fluent approach play and one in reply from Ecclesall saw us take another 3 points. Well done again boys.

KIVETON PARK  2  -  8  AFC DRONFIELD

In the first game it was a fairly scrappy affair with not much fluency to the match but AFC Dronfield still managed to get to 3 – 1 in front with goals from Lawson Staley, Will Roberts and Jack Turner.
The second match saw AFC take total control and apply the normal standard of superb flowing football. Devrim Sacmacioglu got his first goals of the season with 2 headers. The other goals came from Bradley Thompson, Edward Marsden and Jack Leversidge.

AFC Dronfield  4  -  0   Kiveton Park

Yet another win notched up by the lads with the score in each match 2 – 0 in favour of  AFC Dronfield. The goals were put in by Lawson Staley and Bradley Thompson in the first match with Ross Martin and Alex Burke scoring with a smart finish in the second match.
This fixture coincided with a residential school trip which meant we were missing a large number of players but the boys were professional and made sure of the 3 points despite a spirited and exceptionally sporting Kiveton Team. Well done boys!

Ecclesall Rangers  3  - 8  AFC Dronfield

The lads turned out for the second time in a weekend and put in yet another stunning display with some of the best football played all season. The opposition management were extremely complimentary of the standard of our play that saw us take an overall 8 – 3 victory.
However we did go a goal behind in the first game and but for some outstanding saves from our goalkeepers Jack Wilson and Jack Sanderson it could have been different.
The first game finished 4 – 1 , Alex Burke scoring twice, with goals also from Jack Roy and Will Roberts. The second game finished 4 – 2 with Bradley Thompson scoring twice and goals from Charlie Benn and Ross Martin .

Killamarsh Dynamo's  4  -  5  AFC Dronfield

Historically the games against Killamarsh have always been tight and this one was no different. AFC Dronfield conceded an early goal but reacted very well and took hold of the game better after going behind. The first game finished 2 – 2 with Lawson Staley grabbing both goals to continue his scoring run.
In the second game 3 brilliantly taken goals from Jack Roy, Will Roberts and a long range Sam Woods free kick plus 2 in reply from Killamarsh set up a tense finish with around 5 minutes injury time played. AFC Dronfield were superb all match and held on amongst late pressure for a 5 – 4 win.

Sunday February 7th

Millhouses  2  -  2  AFC Dronfield

This was a game that looking back we should have won. The lads put in a great performance and were well on top for most of the game but “one of those days” in front of goal saw us eventually draw 2 – 2.  Edward Marsden and Lawson Staley took their goals very well indeed. On another day and but for the Millhouses goalkeepers it would have been 3 points not one.

AFC Dronfield  3  -  3 Greasborough Youth

A tough match on the return to the season after a long lay off due to the cold snap, against top of the table

The 2nd match was another close match which ended 2-2

Chesterfield Town FC  2  -  1  AFC Dronfield

Both games were dominated by AFC seeing everything from goal line clearances to hitting posts and 2 sucker punches from Town gave them an undeserved victory with our goal being scored direct from a corner by L Staley for his first goal (since joining us from Dronfield Town )

Unlucky boys deserved better

Sunday November 1st

Greasborough 5- AFC Dronfield 3

1st game

On a blustery day AFC suffered their 2nd defeat of the season, albeit not through their hard work and at times good football.

All the pressure was with AFC but could not make it count which saw the teams level at half time. With the wind at their backs AFC put the opposition on the back foot but could not find a goal and a breakaway by Greasborugh saw them take the lead with a good passing movement, within 5 minutes creative football by AFC they got the goal they deserved through J Leversidge. This then spurred on Greasborough who made it 2-1 but AFC bounced back with a finely struck shot by J Roy ending in a 2-2 draw that the opposition was flattered by.

2nd game

From the off both teams looked equal with good football by both sides, but a great shot by a Greasborough midfielder gave them a 1-0 half time lead. Afc fought back well and got the equaliser through good football and a good shot by B Thompson. Afc then seemed to tire and the midfield got over ran resulting in them conceding 2 goals to lose the match  3-1 and  fall 10 points behind them in the league

Better luck next week boys

Sunday October 11th

AFC Dronfield  4 - 2  Brunsmeer AFC

1st game 1-1

This was a tight game with both sides battling to get the 1st goal. This went to Brunsmeer after some good work down the left,a cross, then a scrambled goal resulted. Afc fought back well and a fine effort by B Thompson into the top corner saw the final result end as a draw
.
2nd game 3-1

AFC were more dominate in the first half and some good interpassing saw J Roy open his account for the season. The second half was much of the same from Afc and a tap in for A Burke saw him score his 7th of the season after a W Roberts shot was dropped by the keeper. A lapse in defence saw Brunsmeer get a goal back  but a few minutes later Afc restored their cushion after some good football between W Roberts J Levesidge and C B enn with the latter scoring

Well done to all the boys for a good game
